Troop Tents
8-man tents were hastily errected on land quickly bulldozed by the SeaBees along the taxi-way. Providing shelter from the wind, rain and sun, the tents were stiffling hot during the day , and being next to the taxiway, difficult to sleep in at night due to the constant jet activity. For those working nights, given the continuous roar of the F-4s twin J-79 engines and the scream of the A-6A Intruder's twin J-52s only a few dozen yards away, coupled with the relentless heat, trying to sleep during day was brutal.
